Mikaela Springsteen is a PhD student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Her work studies quantification, mathematization, and the social and cultural role of numbers across human social life, focusing especially on the ways in which numbers create realities.
Current research includes study of (1.) cultures of mathematics and numeracy, (2.) the relationship between uncertainty and calculation, and (III.) the history of numeral systems.
